Matilda Organo

Matilda Organo is our EXCLUSIVE Supreme quality, amazingly easy-care fabric woven using specially developed organic cotton fibres in a special construction with a soft sateen finish. Organo is woven in a high thread-count with an amazing shimmer caused by the profile of the fibre and the way the light hits the fabric. It has a dry-touch beautiful smooth feel and highly breathability because of high absorbing fibres that have no feeling of
humidity.

Organo has a eco-friendly special finish, which stops any bacteria growing enabling you to comfortably wash in cold water and is finished with resins that are totally Formaldehyde free. Organois extremely easy to care for; the fabric is machine washable, perfect for the tumble dryer and does not require ironing. However 100% organic cotton should be washed sparingly.

Matilda Care

Washing

Washing bedlinen inside out will help protect the fabric’s colours and, if your bedlinen features any decorative embroidery or embellishments, this will stop these catching on other items in the wash.

We would recommend washing in cold water and using a mild detergent which does not contain optical brightening agents (otherwise known as fluorescers).

Take your bedlinen out of the washing machine immediately after the cycle has finished, do not leave it to begin to dry in the machine.

Drying

Dry flat or line dry in the shade to discourage creasing and fading of strong colours.

Ironing

Iron when slightly damp – ironing is always more effective if the fabric is not completely dry. Take care not to iron to hot as you can scorch whites and light colours.

For a neat and quick finish try ironing your pillowcases and the top cuff of your flat sheet, this gives the bed a fabulous look without hours of ironing!

Matilda fabrics & definitions

Cotton – Cotton is a soft fibre that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant. The fibre is most often spun into thread used to make a soft, breathable fabric.
Coverlet – A coverlet is made to cover a bed without covering the pillows and is much like a quilt in form and function. It is decorative and usually quilted.
Crochet – needlework created by a needle with a small hook at one end for drawing the thread or yarn through intertwined loops.
Cross Stitch – A double stitch forming an ‘X’ in sewing and embroidery
Embroidered – Embroidery is the art or handicraft of decorating fabric with needle and thread.
European Pillowcase – Standard pillows are rectangular and fit a standard pillowcase, whereas a European pillowcase is much larger and is a square shape. MATILDA European Pillowcases measure 65x65cm.
European Sham – A Euro/European Sham is a decorative and often quilted covering for a Euro/European pillow.
Grosgrain – A ribbon made of closely woven narrow horizontal ribs. MATILDA often uses grosgrain as an edge trim on quilt covers and pillowcases.
Hand crafted – as the name suggests means made by hand or a hand process as opposed to a product that is made by a machine.
Ikat – is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design.
Jacquard – A fabric with an intricately woven pattern. A special loom is used to weave the pattern into the fabric.
Linen – Linen is a fabric woven with fibers from the flax plant.
Lurex – a metallic yarn or thread.
Microfibre – An extremely fine synthetic fibre that can be woven into textiles with the texture and drape of natural fibre fabric but with enhanced washability, breathability, and water repellency.
Monotone – An uninterrupted repetition of the same tone of colour. An example might be a series of stripes all in different tones of grey.
Pleat – A fold in cloth made by doubling the material upon itself and then pressing or stitching it into place.
Quilting – Quilting is the process of stitching through layers of fabric and a filling so as to create a design.
Sanitized – Sanitized® MATILDA bedlinen means the fabric has been treated with a hygiene function that protects you again dust mites and unpleasant odors as well as against mildew and molds. Asthmatics can breathe freely, for dust mite allergens are kept at bay.
Sateen – A cotton fabric with a satin-like finish
Screen Print – Screen printing is a method of creating an image on fabric by pressing ink through a screen with areas blocked off.
Sequin – A sequin is an adornment consisting of a small piece of shiny material used to decorate fabrics.
Silk – A fine fibre with an excellent lustre produced by silkworms. These fibres are woven to make silk fabric.
Tie Dye – Tie Dye Fabric is tied, either with string or rubber bands into some sort of pattern. Then the clothes are dyed, either by submerging them or by squirting dye solution onto them. Where the fabric is tied, some areas do not absorb dye, forming a pattern. This creates an interesting effect known as tie dye.
Tailored Pillowcase – This pillowcase fits a standard pillow but has an extra width of fabric to give ample coverage and an edge. The result is a stylish, floating effect at the edge of the pillowcase.
Voile – Voile is a plain weave, lightweight fabric that is semi-transparent. It is most often made from one hundred percent cotton though is may be made from rayon or silk.
Velvet – Velvet is a soft tufted fabric, in which the cut threads are very evenly distributed, giving it a smooth, dense pile and a plain underside.
